Varied Music Styles
The string trio repertoire offers an exciting and varied range of music from the Classics, Celtic, Rock, Pop, Film and everything in between! Please look at our repertoire list for examples of what we can offer. We can tailor make a programme of music to suit your preference and the occasion, be it a wedding, ceremony, christening, reception, dinner, party, corporate event or any special occasion that would be enhanced by live music.
Not Just Weddings
Equally, the addition of some soothing string music may also be appreciated by gatherers at memorial or funeral services. Being a trio rather than quartet we are able to provide our service to you at a more cost effective price. Bookings start from just £300 depending on venue location and session length.

The Trio

Diane James Violin

Diane James studied violin with Frederick Grinke and has an honours degree in music from the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Following postgraduate study at The National Centre for Orchestral Studies, Goldsmiths' College, London she worked with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera and Ulster Orchestra before her career as a member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow. Now an established freelance player she has worked with the RSNO, Scottish Opera and plays regularly with the Scottish Ballet Orchestra. Away from music she enjoys travel, baking cakes, is a keen tennis player and fan.
Claire Griffiths Viola

Claire Griffiths was born in Lerwick, Shetland, living there until coming to Glasgow to study Viola at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. During her studies she was awarded the Viola Subject Prize and Viola Challenge Prize. She then enjoyed a period playing in the Overijssels Philharmonisch Orkest in Holland, learning much wonderful music but not a lot of Dutch! On her return to Glasgow she worked with the Scottish Opera Orchestra for 5 years, after which she has enjoyed many freelance opportunities with all the major Scottish orchestras. Teaching is an important part of her life, and she continues to love playing and practising the viola. Other interests include family, church, reading, gardening and going to the gym where she has been known, occasionally, to do more than drink a cup of coffee with friends.
Myra Chahin Cello

Myra Chahin studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London and postgraduate cello with Maurice Gendron in Germany. She combined her work as a recitalist and freelance orchestral player in London with her cello teacher appointment to the renowned Yehudi Menuhin School. Her work took her abroad and after several years in Egypt returned to join the cello section of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Further opportunities allowed her to diversify in to solo recital, chamber, freelance orchestral work and teaching at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She is an examiner for the ABRSM (the Associated Board) and enjoys the outdoors, travel, foreign languages and reading in her spare time.
